Academic Conference on “Intellectual and Strategic Partners: Mongolia and India – 70 Years of Diplomatic Relations” was held.

   On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and the Republic of India, the Institute of International Studies of the Mongolian Academy of Sciences, together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy of India in Mongolia, jointly organized an academic conference on the theme “Intellectual and Strategic Partners: Mongolia and India – 70 Years of Diplomatic Relations” on September 19, 2025.

   The conference opened with remarks by Dr. D. Zolboo, Director of the Institute of International Studies of the Mongolian Academy of Sciences. At the opening ceremony, greetings were delivered by N. Enkhbayar, the third President of Mongolia; Mr. Atul Malhari Gotsurve, Ambassador of India in Mongolia; L. Munkhtushig, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; and Academician Ts. Tserendorj, Vice President of the Mongolian Academy of Sciences.

   At the academic conference, scholars and researchers from both countries discussed nine research papers on Mongolia–India relations and Indology. In the first session, presentations included: “The Historical Development and Present Cooperation of Mongolia–India Relations”, “Ancient Connections, Intellectual Neighbors, Strategic Partners and the Future of the Third Neighbor Policy”, “Shared Interests in Foreign Policy within the Framework of the Strategic Partnership between Mongolia and India”, “India–Mongolia Trade and Economic Relations”, and “Mongolia–India Cooperation in the Field of Defense”. In the second session, Indology-focused papers were presented, including: “Sanskrit Language and Literary Studies at the Mongolian Buddhist University”, “On the Sanskrit Grammar Works Found in Mongolia: Past and Present”, “Buddhist Philosophy in India, Tibet, and Mongolia: Similarities and Differences”, and “Characteristics and Reforms of India’s Education System”.

   At the academic conference, Mongolia–India relations were examined across political, economic, scientific, educational, cultural, and humanitarian dimensions. The participants reviewed the 70-year historical trajectory and achievements since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, analyzed the current state of bilateral relations, and, with particular emphasis, discussed prospects and opportunities for future cooperation. The conference was therefore of considerable significance.
