VISIT BY SCHOLARS OF MOSCOW STATE INSTITUTE FOR INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS (MGIMO)

    On January 27th, 2023, delegations of Moscow State Institute for International Relations (MGIMO) at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, a widely recognized academic center for its training foreign relations specialists, Dr. Marianna Nikolaevna Shestakova, a senior researcher, and Lidiya Sergeevna Zhirnova, a researcher at the Center for Spatial Analysis in International Relations, Institute for International Studies, paid a visit to the Institute of International Studies, Mongolian Academy of Sciences. 

    Dr. Zolboo Dashnyam, director of the Institute of International Studies, MAS, and fellow researchers at the Department of Russian Studies of the Institute, welcomed the delegates and expressed their gratitude for the visit. During the meeting, the participants introduced their recent research outcomes, main fields of activities, and new publications respectively, and discussed the possibilities of implementing joint research projects. Furthermore, the parties have shared their interests on collaboration with the purpose of preparing and empowering young researchers in the field of Mongolian and Russian studies, and on exchanging scholars and researchers from both sides within the short and long term programs. At the end of the meeting, recent publications and academic works by two sides have been exchanged.

    In 2022, a textbook "Political Geography", written by Dr. Igor Yuryevich Okunev, director of the Center for Spatial Analysis in International Relations, MGIMO, who led visit of the delegations to Mongolia, was translated and published by researchers’ team at School of International Relations and Public Administration, National University of Mongolia, with the funding of the School.
