The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cuba to Mongolia, Mr. Jorge Ferrer Rodríguez, visited the Institute of International Studies, MAS on February 3, 2023. Dr. Zolboo Dashnyam, director of the Institute of International Studies, welcomed the Ambassador and expressed his gratitude for the visit. During the meeting, the director introduced the institute’s history, main fields of activities and recent research outcomes.
Ambassador Jorge Ferrer Rodríguez appreciated Dr. Zolboo, who gave detailed information about the organization and emphasized that Asia is a very important region for the Republic of Cuba, noting that China, an eternal neighbor to Mongolia, is one of the main trading partners of Cuba. Therefore, the related scientific and research institutions of the Republic of Cuba have many years of research experience in Asian, African, and American studies, and introduced about the main academic centers and institutions that operate in the fields of politics, economics, international relations, and foreign studies in the country.
During the meeting, while Ambassador Jorge Ferrer Rodríguez expressed his pride on precious relationship of mutual trust and friendship between people of the two countries have had since the establishment of diplomatic relations of Mongolia and the Republic of Cuba in 1960, he also emphasized the importance of establishing relations between academic institutions and supporting the development of activities.
The Ambassador expressed his readiness to give a lecture on specific matters of international relations to the scholars at the Institute of International Studies, MAS, as well.
The director of the institute, Dr. Zolboo, welcomed this proposal and expressed his pleasure to cooperate with the Ambassador in organizing a lecture event in 2023.
Dr. Zolboo shared his thoughts on the development of Spanish-speaking countries' studies in Mongolia and the possibility of cooperation in training and empowering young researchers in the field of American studies. At the end of the meeting, Ambassador Jorge Ferrer Rodríguez was presented with the Institute's new publications.
